“See you at the Pole”

The annual See You At the Pole gathering, observed nationwide on high school campuses across the nation drew students, staff, and parents from Jim Elliot Christian High School to unified prayer around various flagpoles throughout the area. While JECHS Student Council members were encouraged to disperse among local area public high schools in support of their Christian counterparts at Tokay, Lodi and Galt high schools, over 40 students, staff and parents from JECHS joined for prayer on their home campus around the cross.

“It was cool to see over 150 students gather at Galt High for this event. We prayed and worshipped God right there at the flagpole. I saw a lot of kids from my youth group there,” said Junior Sam Towne, Chaplain.

Here on the JECHS campus, participants prayed for the upcoming elections, the passage of Proposition 8, and for our missionaries worldwide, among other things. Seniors Liz Thiesen and Kelsey Walters led worship.

“I thought the turnout was really good, especially for being so early in the morning. I volunteered to lead with music because I know how good an event like this can be with worship. As a senior, I really feel that it’s my job to step up to the plate and volunteer and lead whenever there is an opportunity. I was glad to have Kelsey (Walters) alongside me.”
